Why we made Galveston our home away from home
We’re Jonathan and Sarah and are raising two daughters in the suburbs of Chicago, close to our hometowns and extended families. We consider ourselves hardy Midwesterners and appreciate a certain amount of snow. However, every January we start questioning our commitment to the region. During spring break of 2017, while it was still snowing in Chicago, we took advantage of the sunshine and warmth of the Texas coast. That’s when we decided this is the place we need to spend more time and make our home away from home.
After much research and many return trips, we purchased our home in Pointe West in 2018. We were drawn by the relative proximity to all the culture and activity of Galveston. In addition, the private beaches and a quiet atmosphere make the Point West community a perfect vacation spot for friends and family.
With the beach right across the dunes and the resort-like amenities on the property (hot tubs! lazy river! infinity pool!), the community of Pointe West offers welcome respite to anyone looking to warm up during the cooler months in their region. Galveston Island is also an unique location for those in the west who want to head out to the coast for a holiday. In fact, we’ve come to love our beach property so much, that we wanted others to enjoy the experience too.
We have loved getting to know Galveston and the many nearby attractions and nature reserves. Thanks to a warm Texas welcome, we already count many Galvestonians and Houstonians among our friends. And, they have been most gracious in overlooking our funny Chicago accents. We look forward to spending more time in Galveston and introducing more families to the magic of the Texas coast. We hope you’ll think of Bluewater Beach House as a home away from home, just like we do.
